Horticulture Industry Network study tour to New South Wales Department of Primary Industries, near Gosford, September 2015

HIN members met with researchers at Central Coast Primary Industries Centre (CCPIC), Ourimbah, in New South Wales (NSW).  CCPIC is NSW DPI's Centre of Excellence for Market Access and Greenhouse Horticulture. The Centre develops and implements science-based technologies and production systems for horticultural crops with extensive facilities for research in pathology, microbiology and pathology which includes disinfestation laboratories, insect colonies, cool and controlled atmosphere rooms, and fully controlled greenhouses. 

HIN members looked at protected cropping under greenhouses, and discussed plant pathology, biosecurity, food safety, post harvest, sensory evaluation and Queensland Fruit Fly with researchers at CCPIC.  The HIN also made a number of field visits to innovative horticulture businesses within the region, organised by NSW DPI.
